Taxi
In the mountains, the taxi moves at its own pace, steady on its feet, used to narrow paths and steep slopes. They call it a taxi because it’s useful. It carries groceries, firewood, sometimes a tired child, sometimes an old man who knows every turn of the trail. It’s there every day. In the cold, in the rain, under the heat.
It knows the mountain better than anyone. It knows where to place its hoof, when to slow down, when to stop. For many Moroccans, this taxi brings back a childhood, a village, a familiar path.
For those discovering Morocco, it tells another story of movement, slower, closer to the ground, more human. Generous, resilient, discreet, the mountain taxi doesn’t try to impress. It simply does what it has always done: move forward, carry, accompany. And without making a sound, it becomes part of the landscape.
