Gnawi
Recognisable by his vibrant garments, his guembri held close to the body, and a deep, steady rhythm that settles in before you even realise where it comes from. A sound rooted in the earth, resonating through the chest.
Born from Africa and shaped within Morocco, Gnawa culture has been passed down through generations. It accompanies nights of trance, moments of healing, and gatherings where music becomes a language of its own. A bridge between the visible and the invisible, between body and spirit.
For many Moroccans, the Gnawi is part of everyday life: childhood memories, celebrations, narrow streets, late-night rituals. Never staged. Simply present. Essential.
This design pays tribute to a central figure of Moroccan culture. To a man who plays to transmit. To a music that heals, gathers, and remembers.
